Eighty4 Fly – Go Slow

The flyest meets the nicest, well that’s what these two collaborators like to call themselves in greater comparison as they hook up for the first leak from Eighty4 Fly’s upcoming “Colors” project. Fly has kept us in suspense for pretty much a year since he dropped “Flight Eighty4 Fly” last summer but he is one of the few northwest artists fans actually anticipate. This is hip hop after all where artists will always draw comparisons but Eighty4 Fly has cultivated a lot of his own when it comes to neutralizing his sound. This alone has made him a promising draw in fans eyes and the first leak “Go Slow” reminds us all in familiar fashion why we want to be a part of the Fly World movement.

LMC Aka Swagatha Christie – Talk Dirty

ElleMC, LMC, and now the alias of  Swagatha Christie all three damn near together sound like a introduction line rhyme. The equivalency of how rock stars used to live is the image gleaming through LMC as she prepares to release her next project “Black Swaggath”. Being politically correct is not something you would associate with Swagatha as she tries to top the success of “White Girl Wasted” with her first single “Talk Dirty” from the upcoming release. A story in some context the single displays her ill-regard for certain cares of the future instead living by her moniker the wicked witch of the west.   All about living for today she says what she says no regret and does what she does as if tomorrow is never promised! At least that is a consistent point and something we can always expect when lurking to some LMC music. Produced by Sam Lingle you can grab the single over at Bandcamp as well as her first EP and latest mixtape.

Props Ft Stalley – Fresh & Fly

So much for home field advantage as one of the regions hottest artists calls the Midwest home but is laying his musical foundation out here in the Northwest. As much as you would love to have that hometown hero put on for the city it seems to be all love from the supportive front. Props! is laying that storied timeline for his music and from day one after hearing his debut mixtape “To Marz” you knew he wasn’t your run of the mill artist. Its been a gradual build already having the ally of Vitamin D in his corner as producer/mentor but the mixtapes and singles really make you respect the artist caliber. What seems like a respected Maybach connection Props has already worked with Wale on his last leak “Grinding To Eat” and this time gets his summer single “Fresh & Fly” ready working with new roster additive Stalley. The two Midwestsmall city representers give you a super cool Vitamin D produced smooth track that is soulfully mellow enough to puff or just plain out drop the top back riding clean music. You can download the full DJ package with radio edit and instrumental over at Props Bandcamp. Look out for plenty of videos this summer as well as Props! new mixtape “High As The Stars: The Planet Of Marz” and a new all original EP.

Glenn Waco – Drop Kick

Bangers come in all forms and Stewart Villain seems to be Portland’s answer of being able to outside the norm but still make your head nod. Enter Glenn Waco who also calls Portland home with a  moniker that expresses a message of “We Are Change Overall”. As a early leak to a upcoming project we get “Drop Kick” a windows down summer ready song that has Glenn showing out with disregard to a punchline but instead giving you the wrath of a worse later the “Drop Kick”.

Daniel Warren also known as “One Kahleo” of Young N Brave made history being the second person from Tacoma, WA to ever perform on BET’s 106& Park Wild Out Wednesday; which was also his first National/International exposure. The meaning behind One Kahleo is “One Sound One Voice,” the sound being hip hop; the voice being the god given gift to pursue. Jay Child – Fuckin Ya Pride

Cee Goods introduced us to himself and Portlandwhen he released his mixtape “Im Not A Rapper 2.0”. A producer first and artist second it was a mix that showcased his production but whimed im better than some of you so called rappers. Already having produced for some major northwest players its time to work in conjunction with one as he hooks up with talented Black Gov group member “Jay Child”. A group that featured three talented artists the music they made was good but more mass appeal. From the sounds of the first leak “Fuckin Up Ya Pride” from the upcoming summer slated project a live hip hop feel is the garnered audience. Early indications but seems the two are doing something different so far, just have to wait for the rest of the project to see.

Nottus Tre – Money Ova Here

Over the years street anthems is something you rarely go wrong with and just the nature of it brings something out in you. Nottus Tre has been grinding with his FNS series but really hit us over the head with his street anthem “Da Scrilla” with Glasses Malone. Knowing you cant live on one song forever the first leak from FNS3 is here with one of the bay area’s favorite feature artist making a appearance on “Money Ova Here”. Another anthem with a sampled Jeezy on the hook and though features have been present Nottus does not let anyone overshadow his song. Like the weather in the Northwest it’s a clouded talent pool and good artists like Nottus are going to get overshadowed even though they can really rap. Look for FNS3 in the coming months along with a scheduled freestyle series as the release counts down.

Cassow – Cupid

As everything moves around in its own semblance you can’t tell Portland’s Cassow real rap doesn’t live anymore. The naysayers and unimaginative rappers are invisible to this young artist who brings old back to relevancy. A flow beckoning hip hop prime he already shows embodiment to his previous two projects with his third on the horizon titled “Future Classic”. The leaks from the upcoming release have been generous with the latest offering called “Cupid” featuring the one time Roc-A-Fella standout Freeway. Surprisingly at a similar junction as Freeway is the over the hill talent while still hungry is overlooked in a game that does not forgive while Cassow is the rising talent that many will continue to underestimate. Production comes courtesy of Portland’s own Trox.
