Rap has always identified itself at a street level and though the degrees of it vary a lot of it originates from the bottom before it rises to the top. The Northwest at one time was full of hardcore hip hop and what many label as gangsta rap but over the years it has kind of weaned itself off to a moderate level due to the success of pop rap. Even though the tables have turned there is still a considerable amount of artists releasing music that many would not deem radio worthy. Not a worry because many artists who never receive radio play still have a solid fanbase due to newer outlets and forms of promotion. Tha Northwest Street Volume 1 is the first of many upcoming volumes that will feature artists with a street edge to their music. We are currently taking submissions for Volume 2 which will be released in the very near future, you can email submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org along with information about the song.
