Royce The Choice – Razorr Ramone

Royce The Choice (government name: Royce Thomas) chooses to go by his real name in order to tell his story and to engage his listeners in their choice of listening to him. Born and raised in Seattle, he found himself briefly living and working in Los Angeles in 2010 when he released his first mixtape ‘Choosin’ Season Volume 1.’ He describes ‘Choosin’ Season Volume 1′ as a choice mixture of remixes and covers that allowed him to put his own spin on, as well as original material. With simple attempts to be heard, he did just that more and more. Royce’s music traveled from Hawaii to France to Australia, with DJ’s discovering his mixtape thanks to the Internet. He also caught the attention of the Australian Sensation, one DJ Rush, and has been featured on his new radio show Rush Hour on RawFM with an exclusive titled ‘Radio Snap. Royce the Choice independently shot a video for his cover of Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat,’ produced by GMK. The video put a face to the voice, and was received well. Royce also managed to receive the attention of the staff of 50 Cent with the appearance of his in-studio peformance video ‘Stoopid’ on 50′s site Boobootv.com. He was busy in 2011, recording over 100 songs, some of which appeared on the aptly titled ‘Choosin’ Season Volume 2.’ Unlike its predecessor, however, Volume 2 featured all original material. With his eyes to the sky, Royce’s following project is ‘Razor Ramone’ EP, which was produced entirely by GMK, received great reviews throughout the Northwest and nationally.

Calvin Valentine x DJ FlipFlop – SLWDWN94

And it don’t stop, not for Calvin Valentine that is. Just recently dropping a project with TxE Calvin now releases a five song special titled “SLWDWN94” for V-Day. With the last name Valentine go figure but it has been a little while since we have heard him on the raps. He takes a break from producing for the most part with DJ Flip Flop providing the production on every track. This is just another notch in a long belt for DJ Flip Flop as his discography of work with people is long over the years. Calvin’s smooth flow is always easy to vibe too and his beat selection is always grade-A. DJ Flip Flop keeps the soul on every beat with a lot of dope samples which makes the project have its own vibe versus being cliché expectance. Only feature comes from Sam Trump.

Luck-One – King Of The North West II: Curse Of The Pharaoh

Having maximized what the Northwest had to offer as far as opportunity and accomplishments Luck-One moved to New York to further his career as an artist. It seems to be moving in a positive direction as he has seen more opportunity come his way in all forms. Luck-One is coming with that Richard Sherman bravado and he has no qualms about telling you he is the King of The Northwest. He says he is one of the hardest working artists and he just continues to back those words. It has been one of the longer stretches for Luck-One as far as new music but 2014 brings “King Of The North West II: Curse Of The Pharaoh”. Geographically things have changed but Luck still reps for the home crowd and continues to make his own brand of music. It has pretty much been like that since day one when he dropped his first album which was a local favorite. First thing people try to do is throw comparisons and Luck might have similarities but in whole he is still fresh in consideration to what is currently out. Substance rules and Luck-One does not refrain from talking about relatable issues on this release. That might be his strength in the ability to stay lyrical but add that musical addition and not go over a listeners head. No shortage of music here as you have twenty tracks to enjoy. Noted that the project was said to be slimmed down from a hundred songs which means no worries of upcoming music from Luck-One. No shortage of producers on the project either with beats from Shenequa, Mike Mo, Dekk, Reignstate, Trox, Dead Giveaway Beats, King Form, Tmak, Stewart Villain, Produktive, Soul Chef, Goodwill, Samarei, Dupre, and ODC.

J. Pinder – Life Is Simple

Reckon J. Pinder is starting to answer those questions about “known unknown” as his talent is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Even the simplest test of googling Pinder comes up with an array of results versus the maybe one page fulfillment most local artists get. Having some of the best local mentors vouch for him, working with some of the best even early on, being considered for the XXL Freshman class, and it all seems to be adding up little by little. Guess it does not hurt to get the latest nod from the Dr himself in that of the legendary Dr Dre. “Life Is Simple” is the latest leak from Pinder as he continues to give away free music. Guessing this is holdover until his next project drops being that its been awhile since we received “Careless”. Orange Papers, Grey, Loaded Gun, and Young Ra Ra are also included for your listening pleasure. Production is supplied by Trox, Vitamin D, and DJ Khalil.
