Turf Grindaz consists of rappers Cinatra and Brent Ogee both residing out of the Seattle area. These two are not rookies having each dropped a pair of albums before deciding to get together to bring us the “Pounding Tha Pavement” project. As a duo they both have their own styles but complement each other well.  As with any group that is always the first plus, you want to be able to enjoy both artists even though you may favor one over the other.

As with their styles the album follows the same path in the sense it tries to be more of a universal sounding west coast album instead of strictly sticking to northwest sound. The album kicks off with “City By The Sea” and this is throwback sounding track, an ode to that old bay area mob sound. Brings you back to the 90’s with the scratches and a Bosko styled hook. They take you down south with “Bring U Dat” which has more of a west coast sounding beat but they bring southern flavor to it with a popular theme of a sampled hook courtesy of Young Dro.

As soon as the music hits on “Dummy For Tha Money” you instantly thinking of getting hyphy, you cant help but to start feeling your body vibin to the beat that screams E-40esque type of hit. You have to come with something for the radio appeal these days. On the song “Git It Poppin” you have the Cinatra and Brent trading verses about that perfect lady with a nice laid back R&B hook, sure to be a favorite with the ladies. You know a song that makes you proud to be where you from? “Summertime In The Sea” is one of them tracks, its one of them songs where if a video is made it just takes you through a trip through your city. From the landmarks to the local figures there is nothing like Summer Time In Seattle.

The production on this album primarily handled by Funk Daddy & Big Ice is top notch. Even if you didn’t like a certain song on this album you can appreciate and vibe to every beat. Even if you did hear Cinitra and Brent Ogee’s previous album’s this album will be a surprise to you. You know sometimes they say you need someone to bring the best out in you? Well the way these two combined and were able to come together for beat selection/hooks shows their best work yet. You have songs that make you want to get Hyphy, some throwbacks to the vintage bay mob sound, few club and radio hits. Overall this album has a lot of life and can cater to a wide base of fans. You can call the album infectious in a sense because you may not feel every song but at least one will get you bobbing your head.
