Starbuks – Requiem For Tha Street

Starbuks has done many projects but is finally set to release his debut audio/visual album “Requiem For Tha Street: Meeting Mr. Cofey”. This project is a journey through the life and times of one Americas forgotten generation of 80’s babies. The album starts off with “Welcome to the Show” laced with punch lines and a late night feel Starbuks rhymes over a live drums with a laid back introductory approach. Buks quickly follows it up with tracks like “Swallow Me whole” and the radio friendly street joint “Take Ur Time” Featuring the Boy Boy Young Mess. Starbuks begins his transition into Mr. Cofey with the motivational single produced by Rawbeatzz “Hard work.” As Starbuks evolves into Mr. Cofey so does the music and the lyrical content with the cinematic live sound of “Fly On The Wall” featuring the R&B artist Prince Paul.

Mannish Da Jula – Dont Be Mad

Mannish Da Jula set precedence for himself by dropping two mixtapes “Money Is The Object” and “Da Pure” but has bigger plans already for 2011. Hailing from burrrrrr central city of Anchorage, Alaska Mannish has continued to build his buzz by releasing several music videos as well as gaining as much press coverage though various outlets online and in print. Currently promoting his latest singles “Don’t Be Mad” which currently has a video in rotation and “Lil Mama” both of which are available on I-Tunes. Mannish is pushing his Playboi Muzik label with a few mixtapes slated for release this year as well as several EP’s of all new original material which so far features appearances from The Jacka and Kokane.

Starbuks – Life Inside The Pyrex

Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska Starbuks began pursuing a career in music after a short stint in Junior college.  Buks eventually settled in Eugene, Oregon where he became a member in The Option. Considered one of the Northwest’s most talented rap groups for gaining notoriety for their 2003 release of “Option One: Brainstorm”. They achieved regional success with their second release of the classic Mixtape “Public Service”. As a group The Option would work on one more album “Fully Focused” which saw constant push backs due to outside labels wanting to sign the group to release its third project.  Nothing would ever materialize of the album but over the next two and a half years the group recorded and finished a number of songs only to release one project in that time period.

Alaska Redd – Trapped In The Land Of The Frozen

Welcome to the frozen North and Alaskan Hip Hop at it’s best. Josh Silva a.k.a Redd started his music career with 50 Belo Records a local record label in 1994. After their relocation to California, Redd chased his dream of putting Alaska on the map by starting his own label Redddot Productions. Dubbed the pioneer of the Interior’s Hip Hop scene. Redd has succeeded in his plans to “Get Alaska Heard”. With his first solo release “Orgnizdrkus”(Orgin-izd-rukus), released 2001, then in 2002 with a duet album “Clearer Than Black and White”. Collaborating with the artist Dolla B at his side, the album sold over 250 copy’s in its first hour on the shelf’s locally.

Localstar continues his grustle and furthering his Coo Fresh movement with his latest mixtape “Bootleg My Shit” which is a proclamation to furthering his music to the masses. The Hustlaz – Music 2 Commit Crimes 2

The Hustlaz is a group consisting of Joker The Bailbondsman, Trigga, Localstar, Mad Max, & Phenom. The group is based out of Anchorage Alaska and released “Music 2 Commit Crimes 2” on Industrial Entertainment in 2000. All the production was handled in house by Joker The Bailbondsman who is most notably known for his BET Uncut videos which garnered him national fame and helped rap fans know that Alaska was more than just a winter wonderland.

Mannish Da Jula – Da Pure

In 2002 it seemed like only a long jail bid was the future for Mannish Da Jula as he was awaiting trial for a drug charge stemming from an early morning traffic stop, due to being young, black, and driving in an expensive car on the Westside of Anchorage. But thankfully a good lawyer, laying low, and staying out of trouble the charges were eventually dropped due to harassment and lying on the charging documents from the main officer.

Josh Boots – Possesion With Intent

As a Co-Founder of Arctic Flow Records, Alaska’s premier Hip Hop label, Josh Boots has been regarded as an influential & legendary emcee in the 907 for over 10 years.  His first album “Cold Weather Survival Guide,” which dropped in 2004, was a vivid portrayal of his life up to that point.  Featuring production from Phresh Kutz (LA) & Ysae (NY) its expansive sound laid the foundation for an artist with an unconditional love for music and a famished tone that was second to none.For his follow up to  “Cold Weather Survival Guide” Josh released “Possession With Intent” which climbed all the way to #7 on the CMJ charts (Summer 08) and boasted the #1 single in college radio with “No Show Sox.”  Josh’s growth as an artist was evident throughout his sophomore effort as he wove through tales of parenting, education, dysfunctional families and drug culture with a wisdom and creative insight far beyond his years.

One of the Northwest’s most talented rap groups they gained notoriety for their 2003 release of Option One: Brainstorm. They also achieved regional success with the release of the Classic Mixtape Public Service Volume 1.5 in the spring of 2004. Over the next 2 ½ years the group recorded and finished a number of different projects with artist all over the Northwest and the west coast only to release one. In the spring of 2007 “The I-5 campaign” was released. The double disc album featured some major label artists and is called a lost Northwest Classic. It would prove to be the last offering from the group as they split ways shortly after the release. During the summer of 2006 Starbuks began to build his own label which is now known as Cofey Houze Entertainment.
