Young Have Not – The Official Major Leagues

Without much national attention on the Pacific Northwest Hip-Hop scene, industry success has eluded many artists. But with “Young Have Not” there aren’t any concerns about if he will break out of the Northwest, but more like when. “Young Have Not” was born in the rainy, yet beautiful city of Seattle, Washington and raised in the challenging streets of the Hilltop in Tacoma. Amidst the emerging plague of drugs and violence in the community while having to deal with the struggles of daily life in the Hood, “Young Have Not” decided to pursue alternative avenues of expression.

Fueling a passion for music that birthed a truly unique and multi talented artist/producer. “Young Have Not” is by no means new to the game of Hip-Hop and Rap. He is a part of the nationally recognized crew of MCs known as Black Caesar and has produced music for the Northwest Hip-Hop pioneers. Even as a roadie and Black Caesar crew member on tour, “Have Not” has received accolades from peers and interviewers as a raw yet, brilliant MC. He has freestyled and authored flawless rhymes, which have commanded the respect of attendees at KUBE 93s’ Annual Summer Jam concert series. Also receiving acclaim as Hip-Hop artist of the week from KZUU FM in 1998 for an appearance on the nationally recognized True Hour radio show.

At age 14, he began performing with groups like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, G-Wiz, Mista Grimm, SWV, LL Cool J, H-Town and notable underground artists such as Lil Bruce and Pizzo. He has appeared on Black Caesars’ releases of The World Is Mine and The Black Caesar Compilation, but freestyle battles and performances alone, did not cut it for “Young Have Not”. The one thing “Young Have Not” lacked was a complete solo album. A trip to Los Angeles proved to pay off big, while in L.A., Mike Long of Capitol Venture, Incorporated and “Have Not” signed the deal that he and his supporters have been awaiting for over 8 years. “Have Not” waited and worked at releasing a project reflecting his versatility and microphone presence, and his debut release on Capitol Venture, The Major Leagues, listeners are given a privileged glimpse into a world both exciting and at times quite emotional.

And judging from the eight tracks on the album that he produced and the ferocious lyrics expressed, The Major Leagues definitively represents “Young Have Not”. With vividly told experiences and what he has learned, reflective rhymes and credible tales of the street are unleashed, which indicate both his level of wisdom gained from his life in the streets and the eagerness to see more of what the world has to offer. In essence, this artists’ seasoned wit and drive, separate him from that of most rappers of today.
